6th Grade Music

 

Grade Six students will continue their mastery of the skills learned in previous grade levels, including singing, performing on instruments, movement, reading and writing music. There will be an emphasis on the students’ ability to create and compose. This will empower students to use and create music beyond the classroom, giving them a voice to express themselves and use music toward good citizenship.

 

Synthesis of musical concepts

Students will use cognitive skills and deduction to help them perform a number of pieces using I, IV, V, and vi chords. Students will use appropriate music vocabulary to defend their musical choices.

 

World Music

Listening to and playing multicultural music and researching how it relates to other cultures around the world, in our state, community and school will be focused on in Grade Six.
