Mrs. Kistler's
MUSIC CLASS
5th Grade Music
Students will use their musical knowledge and skills developed throughout the elementary music curriculum to synthesize information and create music.
Composition and creativity
Students will be able to read, write, and compose music using increasingly complex rhythms and meters. By experiencing, moving to, performing complex music, students will have the skills to improvise (create music on the spot) and compose (write their own) music. These skills they can bring with them to be lifelong music makers, whether as professional musicians or as listeners and casual participants in music-making.
Singing and Harmonizing
Choral skills, including singing in two and three part harmony will be developed. Major chord progressions, minor modes, advanced recorder playing and triple mallet technique are explored in 5th Grade Music. This will empower students to continue to perform music on instruments or with their own instruments, their singing voices, so that they can continue to make music beyond the classroom.
